In the latter half of the 19th century, forty years before Louis Pasteur established the germ theory, Ignac Semmelweis orders his students to wash their hands before patient contact. As consequence, there is a decrease in deaths which leads to the relation between medical care and hospital infections. The field of healthcare-associated infection (HAI) has developed a far way since then, from the Antibiotics Era to multi-resistant bacterial infections. |

|
Currently in Most Developing Countries and in Some Developed Countries
15 out of 100 patients hospitalized in intensive care units
are at risk of acquiring a healthcare-associated infection,
which causes a two-fold or even three-fold increase in the probability of death.
To reduce healthcare-associated infections is possible.
FLIN is actively working in this and it is offering results.
